Helpful Search Tips

One box searching...

This multi-entry search capability allows you to enter up to four words or phrases and then searches across the database, including NAICS codes, and provides comprehensive results in alphabetical order by company name.

Start simple...

No matter what you're looking for, best practice is to start simple. Start by entering one or more keywords to find the product or service that you are looking to procure. You can always review initial results and then go back and add additional terms to narrow your search if so desired.

Searching for a company name, the name of a business owner, or by location is simple. If you're looking for a company or service in a specific location, enter the name along with the town or zip code.

Less is more...

Easier, one or two word search terms/keywords will usually give you the broadest results. Start with short search terms, then refine your results by adding more words.

Don't worry about cases...

Search is not case sensitive. A search for "woman business enterprise" is the same as a search for "Woman Business Enterprise".

How to expand your search...

A multi-entry search provides expanded results. For example, a search for cement pipe as a compound search phrase will provide only results where those two words exist as a phrase in that exact order within a company's description. Breaking your search into two separate keywords will find all companies with both keywords even when they are not exactly next to each other in order, which helps you find expanded results. To create this multi-keyword search you simply type the first keyword: cement and then hit the Tab button, this creates one search box, next click your cursor back into the large search box and type in the next keyword: pipe and again hit the Tab button. Now you have two separate keywords that you are searching (you can search up to 4 keywords or phrases) and it looks like this: search example
